SpinFire Fuels Collaboration Across the Manufacturing Enterprise

Rapid adoption upends traditional CAD Viewer license model

Detroit, MI – September 28, 2021 – Actify, the leading provider of visualization and program management solutions for the automotive supply chain, today announced that through 2021 it has seen worldwide adoption of SpinFire Enterprise, Actify’s organization-wide deployment of its SpinFire CAD Viewer, average one new enterprise per week.

Traditionally, viewers have been licensed to a single workstation or concurrent user group, a practice that has effectively restricted access to users with the most immediate needs. Actify’s SpinFire Enterprise subscription provides access to everyone and every device within an organization, which can be defined as a location, a division, or other population, up to and including the entire enterprise.

“CAD viewers provide a cost-effective alternative to high-end CAD software seats for interaction with CAD models, but their full potential value is diminished when only a select few users have access,” noted Dave Opsahl, CEO Actify. “We introduced our enterprise licensing approach in response to customers who were frustrated with the inconvenience and administrative burden imposed by juggling a finite number of SpinFire seats among ever more users seeking access. What we have discovered is that when customers upgrade to SpinFire Enterprise a transformation occurs in productivity and customer service as SpinFire promotes enhanced Communication, Collaboration and Comprehension.”

When access to SpinFire is unlimited, sales teams can markup designs while meeting with customers, manufacturing and quality teams can check specifications and tolerances on the shopfloor, and everyone has access to design information at their desk, on the road, or when working from home. Users find SpinFire easy to use and some Actify customers now include it in the standard PC configuration for every employee. Additionally, a single SpinFire subscription consolidates the cost of licensing and managing multiple viewers and ensures consistent interpretation of CAD models thereby reducing errors.

“SpinFire is the backbone of how we do business,” said Jeff Hearn, Director of IT at Royal Power Solutions. “We use SpinFire as a unified tool. When suppliers send us data, SpinFire gives us that vendor neutral ability to be able to import from any format, whether it’s NX, Solidworks, AutoCAD, etc., and then also share information with those suppliers and other stakeholders.  We also don’t have to worry about giving up trade secrets – we can just show portions of the dye or the tool that we’re trying to make, and that allows us to get the materials that we need specific for the build-out.”

SpinFire provides access to all major CAD formats and empowers users across the

extended enterprise to inspect and interact with CAD files. It enhances workers’ ability to

collaborate with customers and suppliers, as well as with internal teams, to improve productivity, accelerate communication, and eliminate mistakes.
